2. Bridgestone
Potenza G009
Bridgestone's
UNI-T Technology focuses on three primary tire components, the beads,
casing and tread, which influence overall performance by enhancing comfort,
handling and traction.
On the outside, the Potenza G009 molds a Long Link
Carbon Black tread compound into a directional tread design that features
stable tread blocks for sporty handling, flowing grooves that channel water
towards the sides of the tire to resist hydroplaning, and independent, siped
shoulder blocks to provide the snow biting edges needed for winter traction.
A continuous, arrow-shaped center rib helps reduce noise while providing
constant road contact to increase straight-line stability. Internally, the
Potenza G009 features a Computer Optimized Component System which blends
twin, high-tensile steel belts with spiral-wrapped jointless belt edge
strips to stabilize the tread area to enhance handling, high-speed
capability and ride quality while minimizing weight.

3. Yokohama Avid H4S
On the outside, Yokohama developed an all-new tread
compound for the Avid H4s/V4s radials that delivers grip on dry, wet and
snow-covered roads while setting new high mileage levels for H- and V-speed
rated performance tires at Yokohama.
This new tread compound is molded into
a computer-optimized directional tread design that combines large
independent shoulder blocks and intermediate blocks with a solid center rib
to enhance straight line tracking and high-speed stability on dry roads.
Four, wide circumferential grooves and multiple cross groves effectively
evacuate water for hydroplaning resistance while slightly offset tread
blocks further enhance light snow traction. On the inside, the Avid H4s/V4s
features twin, high-tensile steel belts reinforced by nylon belt edge strips
to provide responsive handling and high-speed durability.

5. Goodyear Eagle
GT-HR
On the outside, the Eagle GT-HR features
independent tread blocks molded into a directional tread
design to help pump water through the tire's footprint to
increase hydroplaning resistance and wet traction, while
lateral grooves and multiple tread block sipes increase the
number of biting edges to enhance wet road and light snow
traction.
Sequencing tread block shapes and sizes reduce
road noise to increase driving comfort.
On the inside, the
Eagle GT-HR features twin, high-tensile steel belts on top
of Goodyear's RaceWrap Construction Technology developed for
the Eagle Race tires used in NASCAR competition.
RaceWrap
Construction Technology brings a casing ply down the
sidewall at a slight angle, wraps around the bead and
returns it all of the way up the sidewall until it ends
under the edge of the steel belts. This slightly angled,
two-ply sidewall promotes steering response, handling
stability and durability while the single ply under the
tread reduces tire weight.
