Tire Decision Guide
Its time to start thinking of new snow tires if you live
in those parts of the country fortunate enough to be blessed
with cold, snowy winter driving conditions.
Here's the newest offerings for you to consider.
Performance Winter
Tires

ContiWinterContact TS810
ContiWinterContact TS810 Performance
Winter tires were developed by Continental Tire to combine
good snow traction and ride comfort with ""European""
high-speed capability. Available in low profile, T-, H-, or
V-speed rated sizes.
ContiWinterContact TS810 tires are for the drivers of
sport coupes and luxury sedans who require winter driving
traction on dry, wet and snow-covered roads. The
ContiWinterContact TS810 winter tire features Continental
Tire's innovative silica enhanced component compound molded
into an asymmetric tread design with broad, rounded outer
shoulder blocks to enhance dry road handling.
These are combined with notched or
independent intermediate tread blocks separated by wide
circumferential grooves (3 grooves in 215 mm and
smaller-sized tires with 4 grooves in 225 mm and larger
sizes) to enhance snow traction, as well as wet road
traction and hydroplaning resistance.

ContiWinterContact TS810 S
ContiWinterContact TS810 S (Sport)
Performance Winter tires were developed by Continental Tire
to combine good snow traction with responsive handling and
""European"" high-speed capability.
Available in low profile, H-, V-, or
W-speed rated sizes,
ContiWinterContact TS810 S tires are for the drivers of
high performance sport cars, sport coupes and sporty sedans
who require winter driving traction on dry, wet and
snow-covered roads.
The ContiWinterContact TS810 S Performance
Winter tires mold Continental Tire's innovative silica
enhanced component compound into an asymmetric tread design
with broad, rounded shoulder blocks to enhance dry road
handling performance.
These are combined with a continuous
contact, notched rib design to provide more precise handling
and sportier performance compared to the ContiWinterContact
TS810 .

Winter 210 Sottozero
Winter 210 Sottozero tires are Pirelli's
""dual-season"" Performance Winter tires that were developed
to be effective as temperatures approach freezing and below
from mid-autumn until early spring by offering hot
performance compared to summer tires when driven on dry, wet
or icy cold surfaces.
Winter Sottozero tires are for the drivers of high
performance sport cars, coupes and sedans who don't let
their enthusiasm for driving cool off in winter.
The Winter Sottozero tread compound
utilizes cap and base technology that combines two different
compounds. The upper strata (cap) that comes into contact
with the road surface uses Pirelli's latest generation
silanes to bind the silica and polymer to provide greater
stability during hard driving in both wet and dry
conditions.
The sub-strata in contact with the casing
(base) uses nano-composites (aluminum silicates) dispersed
throughout the polymer to provide the stiffness that
enhances stability and driving precision.

Winter 240 Sottozero
Deep diagonal grooves, a distinguishing
feature of the Sottozero™ tread pattern that reduce road
noise and, assisted by the specially designed blocks,
enhance the acoustic comfort and rolling resistance
qualities.
The compact lay-out of transversal and
diagonal grooves create a network of "voids" to retain the
snow, lending the tyre efficient traction and braking
qualities on hazardous snow covered surfaces.
Undulating sipes connected by longitudinal
notches guarantee high lateral stability on snow covered
surfaces.
Broad, deep longitudinal grooves with
differentiated profiles allow water to be expelled, even at
high speed, thus raising the aquaplaning threshold.
The
winter 240 Sottozero robust blocks set between the two
longitudinal grooves, to create a single centre rib,
guarantee exceptional stability for a winter tire on dry
surfaces.
Substantial shoulder blocks confer
exceptional lateral rigidity to the tread when under load
during cornering, raising the limits of grip and ensuring precise
handling through sudden changes in direction.
Studless Ice And Snow

Blizzak REVO 1
This is Bridgestone's Studdless Ice and
Snow winter tire developed for the drivers of coupes and
sedans that want more winter driving control and confidence
than available from any all-season tire.
Blizzak REVO 1 tires are designed to
enhance wintertime traction on wet and icy roads, as well as
in slush and snow.
The
Blizzak REVO 1 tread compound features "bite particles"
to enhance traction on ice, slush and packed snow that are
imbedded in Bridgestone's Tube Multicell Compound.
The Tube Multicell Compound features small
pores to reduce the risk of slipping on the thin surface
film of water that makes winter driving so dangerous.
